Generation Rent includes many young people with degrees and good jobs who have no hope of buying a house or flat. They have even less hope of being eligible for social housing and are forced to rent in the private sector. Most of the good jobs are in London area and this is where the problem is most acute. House prices remain high as demand outstrips supply flamed, in part, by the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
