Britain’s figures for CO2 emissions,
Should be above suspicion,
But there is a supposition,
That the politicians,
Have a disposition,
That avoids admission,
But creates suspicion,
About why Britain’s CO2 emissions,
Are just 1% of the world’s emissions,

Sounds too good to be true?
So, let’s review,
How Britain came to accrue,
But use so little CO2.

It is simplicity itself,
For we make nothing ourself,
Just buy of the shelf,
Electrical goods from China,
With 29% of the world’s CO2 emissions
And clothes from India,
With 7% of the world’s CO2 emissions,

For the foreign workers it is exploitation,
Without justification, 
Without expectation,
But with degradation,

The current system is a disgrace,
And leaves a foul taste,
And there is surely a case,
That we should replace,
Goods that travel across the world,
With goods made in Blighty unfurled,
Yes, individual items will be more expensive,
But no need to be pensive,
All of us have a choice and a voice,
But cannot rejoice,
As our throwaway society is killing the planet,
