Pin Striped Pimps

Seedy, greedy,

Wheeler dealers,

Suited, booted,

Bowler hatted,

Pin striped pimps,

Public school ponces,

Shaft the needy,

Eton, Harrow,

Westminster, St Pauls,

Posh schools,

Charities,

That pay no tax,

Oxford, Cambridge,

Champagne Charlies,

Bullingdon Club,

Posh hooligans,

A hedonistic orgy,

Getting drunk,

Taking drugs,

Lots of bonking Boris’s,

Wrecking restaurants,

Never arrested,

Never charged,

Become an intern,

A lobbyist,

A Journalist,

Do PR and,

Finally, an MP,

Without ever,

Having had a real job

Then join the ideological assault,

On the fabric of society,

By fanatical, dogmatic,

Neo-liberal fundamentalists

The unemployed,

The disabled,

The immigrants,

The pensioners,

The rural and urban poor,

Machined gunned down,

By prejudice, dislike,

Distaste & contempt,

By a class

That arrogantly,

Believes it really is,

Superior,

An elite,

Born to rule,

Just like when,

Britain had an empire

They still think,

Britain can be great,

Again,

But cannot see that,

Like the religious fundamentalist,

Their belief has no reality,

And worse,

As they’ve never had a proper job,

They are wrecking the country,

Because they are fucking incompetent

  1. Brenda Rogers says:

Every word is true! Should be a footnote in ” The Ragged Trousered Philanthropist”.

  2. Michael Gold says:

    Brenda,

    Yes, what a great book!!

  3. Tom Lines says:

This reminds me of Shelley’s poem, England in 1819:

An old, mad, blind, despised, and dying king,–
Princes, the dregs of their dull race, who flow
Through public scorn,–mud from a muddy spring,–
Rulers who neither see, nor feel, nor know,
But leech-like to their fainting country cling,
Till they drop, blind in blood, without a blow,–
A people starved and stabbed in the untilled field,–
An army, which liberticide and prey
Makes as a two-edged sword to all who wield,–
    Golden and sanguine laws which tempt and slay;
    Religion Christless, Godless–a book sealed;
    A Senate,–Time’s worst statute unrepealed,–
Are graves, from which a glorious Phantom may
Burst, to illumine our tempestous day.

Nearly 200 years later, we’re still waiting for that phantom!

    • Mike Gold says:

      Tom,

The sentiments may be the same but the quality of the writing is certainly not the same.

It is strange that, in spite of the material progress, we are still facing the problem of being ruled by an unaccountable elite.

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely, and we are heading in that direction; maybe we are already reaching it!!

      Fraternally,

      Michael

  4. Mr Shankly says:

Building the revolution with bloody awful poetry? Not likely.

    • Mike Gold says:

Good, bad and bloody awful are merely personal views. Certainly, poetry and everything else has been spectacularly unsuccessful in building the revolution; in fact we are probably further away than ever!! If you have any ideas on how we can succeed then please send them to me?
